WHO WE ARE

Home of Shiloh Orphanage is an independent registered non-government and nonprofit organization based in Lusaka, Zambia. Its prime motto is education and care to orphaned and vulnerable children of society.

I John Phiri was born in a family of three as a firstborn. My father died when I was 7 years old since then life became hard. In the year 2003, I moved from the village to my uncle’s place in Lusaka. By then I had already written my grade 7 final exam. But due to lack of financial support, I stayed home for 4 years and 8 months without going to school. Later on, I started working as a garden boy, and the person I was working for offered me the opportunity to start my junior secondary. I used to handle work and school simultaneously. When I reached grade 10 the person I  was working for passed on. From then I became a cameraman for survival and to raise my school fees. Then in the year 2008, I completed my grade 12.

I was born in the catholic church in the year 2003 I shifted to the word of life church. From my childhood, God has been speaking to me through dreams that I should save the people. In the year 2009, I became so committed to doing the work of God(preaching and sharing clothes, food to the vulnerable and the aged). In the year 2014, God appeared to me concerning my calling that I should save in helping out the orphans, widows, widowers, the aged, the sick, and so forth.

Let Love Lead

After I completed my diploma in theology I lost my mother, in the year 2018. In the year 2020 11th September, God spoke to me through a dream that I should open the orphanage. Then on 7th November 2020, the orphanage started operating. Even though the orphanage is operating I do not have Donors or sponsors to expand it and its services.

The aim of this organization is to help the orphans and vulnerable children in the city of Lusaka. The organization was named Home of Shiloh Orphanage through the Holy Spirit, the HOME OF Shiloh orphanage started functioning in the same year and three children (orphans) were engaged under the care of the organization in Ibex, Lusaka.

Considering their association with the development sector John Phiri was cognizant of the plethora of problems plaguing most vulnerable children. Consequently, the organization’s focus was not kept limited in terms of sector. Whilst operating in Ibex, HoSO has extended the operations to neighboring townships like Mtendere, Kalikiliki, Mtendere east, and Chainda carrying a range of interventions in the areas of education, health & hygiene, youth empowerment, child abuse, human rights, etc.

With some hardship, the organization continues to grow. Currently, the number of children under the care of the organization has risen to 16 in our care and 40 outside the structure; this includes both males and females. Due to lack of funding, the 40 children cannot currently be housed at the orphanage. We are appealing for more support to accommodate them.

The organization wishes to expand the services to a larger number and more stations.
